John Murray – Promoter and owner of the Pikes Peak SUPERCROSS competed in his first SUPERCROSS race at Norris-Penrose Events Center June 1, 1988. John (at age 16) had just moved up from the Novice class to amateurs and was able to race under the lights. Over 30 years later John still races in the Pro Class and now owns the Pikes Peak SUPERCROSS event which is the largest Supercross in Colorado.
The SUPERCROSS is sanctioned and officiated by the RMRA (Rocky Mountain Riders Association) and the AMA (American Motorcyclist Association), rules and regulations available on the RMRA.racing website.
SUPERCROSS racing has become a worldwide phenomenon. From its humble beginnings in 1972, the sport has enjoyed unprecedented growth, making it the second biggest motor sport in the USA, topped only by NASCAR. The name SUPERCROSS was recognized by Google as one of the most highly searched motorsport key words in the world!
